Dear Pete, Sounds just fine to me--stamps are sometimes VERY unreliable concerning the art work. See John`s letter. Julius From: phymatarum@googlemail.com To: aroid-l@gizmoworks.com Date: Sat, 11 Apr 2009 07:04:15 +0800 Subject: Re: [Aroid-l] Xanthosoma indica? Hi Julius,
Sorry, but I said no such thing! I said “Hi Marek, Bit stylized...my guess would be Xanthosoma rather than Alocasia...”, it was Marek who suggested Xanthosoma indica... There IS an Alocasia indica (= Alocasia macrorrhiozos) but the stamp does NOT depict Alocasia macrorrhizos). My guess is that it is one of the carbohydrate crop Xanthosoma spp. That are frequently met with throughout the tropics, well away from their native Caribbean and South/Central American origins...

Dear John and Friends, From: criswick@spiceisle.com The plant has Xanthosoma written all over it, and aren’t all Xanthosomas tropical American? The name X. indica therefore must be an impossibility. John.

Hello,
I have a new stamp (see the attachment), the plant is named there Xanthosoma indica.
I think it is Alocasia indica or maybe A. macrorrhizos What do you think?
Best, Marek Argent |
