Usual an amount of DNA is specfic for a species irrespective of 
how they look like All humans have 7 picogram. So if two plants 
have different amounts of DNA ( excluding ploidy but that is easy to 
spot) they are likely different species If the amount of dNA per 
nucleus is identical they are probably, but not for sure, the same
