  Dear Derek,

First off I am NOT an 'expert' on Amorphophallus, but since A. paeoniifolius falls within the edible aroid group, I have taken an interest in it. It seems a VERY variable species both in the color and texture of the petiole and even in the variations of the color of the spathes. Many of these variations can be seen and obtained at Dewey Fisk's collection.
I`m sure 'Lord Phallus' can fill us in on some other variations!!
  Cheers,

  Julius

  >>I bought a tuber about the size of these in a grocery store in Southall
(West London) last year. It has the light green petiole that some of
those in the picture show. Is this within the range of variability of A.
  paeoniifolius? Derek
