On December 4th, the city of Thousand Oaks, California generously approved a
grant of $2,450 to the Conejo Valley Community Garden Club for garden
liability insurance, a rototiller, shovels, rakes and irrigation pipe.
There's only one little Catch 22: THE CLUB HAS TO GET INSURANCE TO PROTECT
THE CITY OF THOUSAND OAKS IN ORDER TO GET THE MONEY TO INSURE THE SEPARATE
PARK DISTRICT WHICH OWNS THE LAND ON WHICH THE COMMUNITY GARDEN WILL BE
LOCATED!!!!!!!!!
And here we thought that a grant was a GRANT. we would be interested to hear
whether any other community gardens have had similar, or even weirder
experiences ( and how you resolved them).
