Urban Agriculture Conference Announcement

A conference on Urban Agriculture, Emerging Opportunities in Science,
>Education, and Policy, will be held in Dallas, TX, May 20-22, 2002.
>The conference web site is http://urbanag.tamu.edu
>Abstracts and early registrations are due March 12.
>
>Conference Prospectus:
>Agriculture is usually associated with the production of food and fiber
>commodities in rural areas. Agriculture in the 21st century, however, is
>actually much broader than this*it also includes such diverse items as
>environmental horticulture (e.g. ornamentals, turfgrass), planning the use
>of green space, control of insect and rodent pests, wildlife management,
>and even food production by city dwellers. The symposium will provide a
>forum for better understanding these components and will hopefully result
>in a broadened perception of agriculture.
