I have been asked to summarize the RFP on community garden study for
the list serve. Gateway Greening, a St. Louis non-profit community
gardening org, has received a multi-year commitment to fund a study to
determine the effects of community gardens on their immediate
neighborhoods. Expected results are:
Creation of a dynamic eval tool with outcome based measurements for
both long term and short term measurable goals
A tool to use on a continuous basis to assess programming and garden
impact on social indicators and urban quality indicators
A tool to asses comm gardening as a process worthy of the time and
energy of its participants, preservation and support by local municipalities
and supporters
Assessment of collected data for a minimum of three years.
We aniticipate this study to be a joint effort between the evaluator and GG.
This study is supported with funds, computer station, data collection and
data input. Proposals to include design, methodology and assessment;
and budget by the applicant evaluator.
