I don't have a plan really, but I like these 1995 and 1996 articles from
Vegetarian Times. They're not technically daunting and are written in a user
friendly style. With these to start off with and a biblography on organic
raised bed gardening like the Jeavon's books, a tyro with one of your huge
Wisconsin garden plots should do fine.
