Actually tobacco mosaic virus isn't spread by tobacco smoke, but
rather by unwashed smokers' hands.
I do not select the varieties of nightshades that I grow for TMV
resistance/tolerance; still, in 27 years, I've never had a TMV
problem. I do, however, wash my hands if I've been smoking and want
to work on my tomatoes, etc.
