Kristin,
The one person on this list who knows best is Jack Hale. You may want to go
into the Mallorn Community Garden Archives ( it was a 2000/2001 discussion)
to get the postings on this topic.
As I recall, Jack's foundation had managed to have one of the lots he works
planted with a crop that sucked heavy metals out of the ground. The plants
were then harvested and carted away as hazardous waste.
