Shedding Evergreen

One of the evergreens that sheds is Larix laricina the Tamarack.  It does not 
usually assume the described weeping shape however.  One that you may be 
referring to that certainly at least resembles an evergreen is commonly 
called a smoke tree.  I do not know its scientific name.
