Yeah, thanks, Noreen. I took the plant to the fat plant list and someone suggested that it was Eucrosia bicolor, the Peruvian lily, which seems to be right. Neat plant.

The other plant, which is actually more interesting--large, partly submerged caudiciform just now breaking some unknown sort of dormancy. The name on the label is Gucrosia bicolor. This particular plant is still too small to take an informative picture of, but as soon as it grows a bit, I'll give it a try.
Maybe I ought to check out the fat plant list on Yahoo. Not, especially, for this plant; just in general.
