I remember getting the polio vaccine on a sugar cube. I never got a smallpox
vaccination though, long time ago my mother said I got so sick after
vaccinations she was afraid to have me get that one. I guess it wouldn't
provide any protection now anyway.

I remember the polio epidemic, too.  My mother was scared to death I would 
get it.  I was fascinated by the iron lungs.
