I know for my cat the glucosamine has really helped- he is taking Cosequin. I started using that (on vet's advice) before using anything else for his arthritis and within a couple of days there was a clear improvement in his mobility (he could actually jump a little again). I imagine it depends on the cat and what the problem is.

Theresa, I've read of reports of studies on humans that glucosamine isn't really effective. I'm not sure about in cats. My vet also is giving my cat a shot once a month of a sort-of time-release low level corticosteroid that has beneficial effects over several types of ailments, including arthritis. It seems to help. Thanks for the extra info on BPA. amazing. Apparently there is relatively little concern about adult humans using the bottles- but who knows... Canada hasn't banned BPA from the lining of formula cans, but only because they don't apparently have a reasonable alternative substance for that lining yet.... I give George a spoonful of wet cat food everyday to take his glucosamine also. He needs it for his arthritis, so I won't be stopping this.Theresa Kitty wrote:I agree, about the expense & messiness. Just since January I've been giving my boys canned food because BH needs his glucosamine mixed in it. What impressed me in the article was that it's the coatings used on pop-top cans that are most suspect.Kitty neIN, Zone 5----- Original Message ----- From: "Zemuly Sanders" <zemuly@comcast.net>To: <gardenchat@hort.net> Sent: Sunday, April 20, 2008 10:49 AM Subject: Re: [CHAT] canned cat foodThanks, Daryl. Now I don't feel so bad about not giving my cats canned food. :o) It's just too expensive and too messy for me.zem ----- Original Message ----- From: "DP" <pulis@mindspring.com> To: "gardenchat" <gardenchat@hort.net> Sent: Sunday, April 20, 2008 9:32 AM Subject: [CHAT] canned cat foodMy sister sent this.
