Jim,
Well, here I go showing my lack of experience again. I've never used a cold
frame because I know I'm not dependable enough to do all that opening and
closing on sunny days. I envision either finding frozen dead cuttings over
which I'd thrilled at my success just a few months before (because I forgot
to close it) or fried green mush (because I forgot to open it). And I never
had enough confidence in my ability to pull it off to actually build one and
spend the $75 for the automatic opener (could I really trust it not to
malfunction?)
You try it and let me know how it works. ;+)
