Chris, since becoming a nursery dude I have found that I have my hands
in soil 10% of the time. The rest of the time I am fixing water
issues, electrical issues, learning to be an insect expert, fungal
expert, advertizing executive, marketing manager financial wizard,
carpenter and if your greenhouses are driven by computers, as mine
are, a programmer as well which I guess would come easy for you.
Heretofore I was not a handy guy. However, now...I'm still not handy
but I have to muddle my way through. Fascinating job it really is.
By the way, this year I'll be adding several different types of
tropicals. Hardy ones that can actually be planted. Yippee.

Oh really? Just wait until you get some pest you don't know how to
deal
with or a disease. Or you have been informed a televsion channel is
going
to film from your greenhouse...that'll make you pucker.
I did have athlete's foot once... Oh, wait, you meant the plants... :)
Just had a pest I don't know how to deal with leave my office at work
too.
In that scenario those are times when I'm not working -- I'm sitting
around worrying instead. But when I've got my hands in the soil I'm
at peace.
Don't worry -- I know my hair's going to turn gray even faster over the
coming years with this venture. :)
