Re: I got a leafblower!

One of my favorite Xmas presents ever was a stainless steel perennial spade- LOVE it still! Oh- and the bird feeder I got for my birthday this year is also one of more fav gifts too.

I used to use my electric leafblower to blow out my dryer vent (my dryer is in the middle of the house) and for cleaning out the garage. But I never could get the hang of using it for leaves. I'd always lose too much of my mulch. So my LB is at my sister's house and if I need it I have to go "borrow" my own tool. BTW, it vaccuum/shreds leaves too, but most leaves here are maple and maple stems do not shred, they wad - even in my 5HP gas chipper shredder.

However, I understand completely the thrill of a new yard implement. My chain saw died last year in the middle of a big pruning project. I got a new Craftsman for my birthday and used it several times this year. A real thrill!

So forget diamonds; give me equipment!! - or mulch - or plants. Wasn't it Bonnie Morgan who got a load of mulch ofr her BD one year?

Subject: [CHAT] I got a leafblower!

Okay so it's not that much to get excited about, but I am. Husband
bought me an electric leafblower for my birthday and I tried it out
right away. I should have gotten one years ago! It did a much better job
getting the dirt off the patio than sweeping or water, I even got all
the debris that piles up between the potted plants. Of course, in the
winter there will be oodles of leaves, but I can blow those onto the
lawn and then mow them up. I didn't try using it as a vacuum/shredder,
which it claims it can do...I doubt it, since we had an electric leaf
shredder once and it didn't work worth a darn, but we'll see. What it
doesn't do as well is get dirt that's been kind of glued down by water,
like under the dog's water bowl. But all in all, I'm very pleased. It
isn't very noisy and being electric there's no exhaust pollution.
My co-workers will think I'm some deprived person, I didn't get jewelry
or fancy clothes for my birthday, I got a leafblower... but I knew you
guys would understand!
