I realize there's a difference between working for MegaCorp at home on a computer logged into the company's LAN and freelancing, that is working for MegaCorp at home but not logged into the company's LAN until it's necessary or convenient. I have no experience with the former situation, but 30-40 years with the latter.. and I never had it so good, before or after. As a morning person, I got done nearly everything I thought needed to be done in the quiet, cool morning before breakfast. Early in this escapade, I could take the kids to school, then come home and go fishing or sailing or crabbing or drinking with some of my ne'er-do-well friends down at the oyster sheds on the Annapolis docks.
On the other hand, if "working at home" means sitting at one's computer from 9 to 5 so a bean-counter can record hours as a surrogate for accomplishment, it sound like Big Brother and a bad bargain to boot.

Will definitely wait to hear more from both potentials Kitty. At home, does mean at home, via computer and webcam. That's one thing I'm tired of though, is sitting on my butt behind a desk so that's a consideration. I'll keep you

Does "work from home'" mean working AT home or using home as your base - 
such as visiting clients but doing paperwork etc at home?
Sounds like either way you're in the running for advancement. As you said, you haven't been offered Valley Crest (VC) yet and you described the current
job (CJ) situation as "potentially". No decisions to be made just yet. 
Could you use the CJ pay increase as leverage with VC for more $?
You say that VC would be an opportunity to do what you love, but that it would be for less money than CJ. However, would that just be for starters? What is the potential for a bigger paycheck down the road as you prove 
yourself?

So, I have an interview with the VP of Valley Crest either Tuesday or Wednesday. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very exciting. On a dilemma front, my current boss has gotten a new contract and potentially this 
means
I would get a substantial raise and be able to work from home. So it's a 
good position to be in, but also stressful.
Take a pay cut to do what I love, or stay with my boss who has treated me 
phenomenally and be able to work from home for more money? Thoughts,
advice?????? Of course, I haven't been offered the job at Valley Crest yet 
so I should just chill and see what both offers are right?
