Most of our marital gardening frictions involve the house plants. (Outside it is usually when Gary takes out the chainsaw.) He loves plants in the house, but guess who cares for them? Not that I mind, but when I propose getting rid of a declining or scale/mite infested plant, I get major blowback. And then, there are the bananas. He wants me to plant them outside for the summer, then dig them and transition them inside for the winter. Life is too short!

	Say Hey! Youall.
My wife JoAn just brought up today the subject of downsizing our gardens. Nature has removed so many of the trees in my shade gardens becoming more sun than shade. Also think I may be getting old and need to slow down a
bit, easy up a bit on my body.
All I know for sure is some changes are coming.

I hear you...if ten years ago I could have looked forward and seen how
incredibly busy our lives would get, I'm sure I would have gone smaller, not bigger. Haven't had much time the past couple of years for keeping up with all the beds and you can sure see it...BUT...now with all the kids finally moved out and semi-independent, maybe more free time will translate into more time in the gardens...we'll see. Its been awesome seeing everyone's
posts...

Judy, I agree with you regarding the feeling of a chore. My love of
gardening is just not the same.

I've felt the same way, lately. For me I think it's different
reasons, though.

Life has been so hectic and everything else is a priority instead.
It's depressing to see the garden in this state, but I can't really do
anything about it. I also can't afford to buy new plants now either,
so if I do anything it will just be to maintain the current plantings.

There's also the community aspect. When I worked in the garden I
looked forward to talking to everyone online about what I was growing, etc. Now that sense of community is diminished, so it's a more lonely
endeavor.

I would *love* to be able to spend time gardening again.

Chris

P.S. It's good to see these emails flowing again! :D P.P.S. Happy
belated birthday, Auralie!
