My Greek friend's father, owner of many restaurants over the years, fired a new short-order cook within the hour of being hired when he started a "grilled cheese" sandwich by frying the cheese on the grill. Margaret L

My mom did something very similar; put the cheese in a frying pan with some
butter and sort of fried it until it was crusty and brown around the edges.
It wasn't bad, actually.
