If grass roots penetrated into it further than 1/4 inch, then you can plant in it. Margaret L
Margaret- If I thought a seed would grow in it I would. My lawn was clearly planted directly into clay (this is part of why it weighs so much!). I think there might be a 1/4 in of topsoil- and that is probably from the topdressing I did of the lawn this fall. Thanks for the suggestion though. Theresa
