Re: snow

Small weather story here. Apparently, we've have a front moseying through. It's been blustery for the last 2 days and the day high temps have dropped from 81 to 69. We've also had a skimpy 0.3 inches of rain in the last 48 hours--which the blustery wind simply sucked up again as soon as it fell.

I'm going to HD tomorrow to find a Japanese, Chinese. or Thai egg plant for a pot on the front patio. The tomato seeds I planted early last week are beginning to germinate.

We had about two inches of icy sleet this morning - didn't go to
church. The man who plows our drive came by and said he was
sending a crew with a "bear cat" to clean up the walks and in
front of the garage - we had complained because he had pushed
snow up against the garage door last year and I couldn't get my
car out. So far the crew hasn't appeared. I hope they don't
forget. Now it is raining and 33 degrees. I hope it stops before
the temperature drops, or we will really be in a mess. We used
to shovel years ago, but can't quite manage any more than the
steps and breezeway these days. Since we are on a private
road, the town doesn't plow our road - the neighborhood has
to contract for that - and we have about 120
feet of drive that we have to have done.

We got about 8 inches of wet snow. There's a layer of slush under it.
Gotta get it up in case it decides to freeze to ice under there. Took me about 3 hrs of shoveling this am. I do more shoveling than most people do when I have the time. I did my driveway, my 60 ft of sidewalk and 60 ft of sidewalk of each neighbor to both sides of me. I also do half the street from the centerline to the curb and across the street for the approach to
and in front of the mailboxes.

I do my neighbors' walks when I can because sometimes they do mine when I
don't have time. I do the street because if I don't the plow will come
along and shove a barrier of heavy ice and snow across my driveway. By my shoveling the street snow, he has nothing to push into my driveway, so I
won't have trouble getting out tomorrow.

Good exercise too.

We got 3 1/2 inches here, good, because I was driving around
participating in the Christmas bird count all Saturday. The birds,
though had more sense - most of them were hunkered down out of sight!

Well to those to the east of me, you might want to watch out for this
storm. It dumped about 7-8 inches here and is still snowing. It is
supposed to get worse by the time it gets to you.

I can't believe our area hasn't been plowed yet.... and add the
30MPH winds, drifting is really becoming an issue already.

Sigh, I have in good weather about an hours drive today...... I am
hoping they will all cancel and reschedule, but it is too early to
know
that yet.

  Stay safe folks!
