Sorry, Comcast is getting on its feet after the ice storm. Looks like it has caused hiccoughs - I didn't send everything twice.

Re Fred Meyer - Wikipedia -

Fred Meyer, Inc is an American company founded in 1922 in Portland, Oregon
by Fred G. Meyer. The company was one of the pioneers of the retail
supercenter or hypermarket format of store which combines a grocery
supermarket and a department store. Although the company is now a division
of The Kroger Company, Fred Meyer and the western region of Kroger are still
headquartered in Portland.

Dunno when it happened. One of our mega stores here is Fred Meyer
[they are like Wal-Mart Superstores, only not quite as creepy]. One
day when I got curious I looked them up. They, too, are a Kroger sub-- and whatever Kroger page I found them on, listed Fry's as a sub also.

I didn't know that Fry's was a subsidiary of Kroger. When did that
happen?

My bank has been going through a lot of machinations recently--
changing user IDs, passwords, and the like. Yesterday, it was my
turn and I changed all those things. So this morning, I logged on
to see if it all worked, which it did, only to discover that my
checking account was about $1,300 less than it should have been.
When I checked the register I discovered a pending debit of $1,300
payable to Fry's Electronics, a subsidiary of Kroger. I called the
bank; the bank said since the charge wasn't yet posted to call
Fry's. I finally connected at Fry's with a customer service guy
named Joe, who looked up the charge. Seems someone was trying to
buy a Sony computer on my dime. So he said he would cancel the
order and stop the payment collection. Then my sister chewed me
out for using a debit card for on-line purchases. Oh well.
