It's great to hear from you, and a very happy new year to everyone.
 
Pat, to answer your question, at one point my son was told he could
live anywhere as long as he was less than an hour away from an
airport.  I don't know just why he chose Berthoud, Colorado, but
he loved living there, and was not very far from Boulder.
 
The Logans continue to toddle along.  Neither of us walks very well
any more, but at 87 and 88 I guess we can't complain.  Otherwise
our health is pretty good.  We just spent a couple of days in New
York City with our youngest son who had brought his wife, mother-in-law
and two kids for a week.  We saw "American in Paris," a show at the
Folk Art Museum, and ended at the Christmas morning service at
St. Thomas Episcopal Church on 5th Avenue, where the music is
spectacular.  I was glad to get home safely.
 
This has been a totally crazy fall.  It was not a good summer - too dry
and I was not able to garden as much as usual - but this autumn is
just beyond belief.  There have been only about four nights below
freezing - then just into the upper 20s - and no snow at all.  Two
nights ago a mixture of sleet and rain fell, but it didn't last.  Today
the sun  is shining and the temperature is 45 degrees.  My quince
bush has buds showing color and my Hellebores have flower shoots
several inches tall.  I'm sure we will get cold in a few days  that will
finish them off - surely the quinces, but maybe the Hellebores can
survive.  Anyway, it's crazy.
 
Once again, it's good to hear from you.  I have missed Garden Chat,
but don't bother with Facebook.  And again, very best wishes to all
for a happy and successful new year.

I thought it would be good on this last day of the year if everyone could check in and let us all know how you are doing.  
I am in Gainesville, Ga.  We moved here to be closer to our daughter and 2 of our granddaughters.  We are renting a VRBO on Lake Lanier, beautiful place to live but we can’t stay after June.  It gets to expensive!  Any advice on where we should go next?  My husband just has to live near an airport so he can fly out every week.  Atlanta has been great but traffic to the airport is more than he wants again.  We have been thinking around Bastrop, Texas and he could fly out of Austin.  Any advice on that one?  We have lived in Houston and was great being near my sister and brother but the traffic to the airports was hard on Don.  I would love your advice, there are so many great places to live!
