Re: Oleander

Daryl and Bonnie,
Thanks for your sympathy.
I'll just leave everything in there and see what, if any will survive. There's nothing that can't be replaced. Several hibiscus, some with twisted trunks that I kept for my neighbor. Lots of Geraniums, fuchsias, heliotropes, a large gardenia (I have another in the garage), persian shield, mandevilla, a plumeria, brugmansia (I have several that Marge sent, rooting inside). The only plant that has the leaves intact is the abutilon, had I known, I might have left it outside. We rarely go down to 17. : (

ohh, ouch! I lost a lot of stuff in the greenhouse one night in December
when the temps went down much lower than they were supposed to, so I hadn't
turned the heater on. You have my sympathies.

What did you lose? Maybe I can make divisions?

Noreen,
Oleander is not an overused plant in our neck of the wood. Since it's not
hardy here, I keep it in the garage and it does fine. I love the salmon
colored blossoms in the summer. It blooms and blooms.
I'm glad that I had transplanted it to a large container, one that
doesn't fit through the green house door, otherwise I would have lost it
as I did all the plants in the greenhouse. On the coldest night this
winter, 17 degrees, the heater didn't kick in. I could have cried.
