Bummer! Painting your head is a great idea! Hmmm....they didn't tell menot to garden or eat fresh produce when I was having chemo but it makessense. I didn't want the produce anyway -- too hard to digest. You areright to be as creative and "out there" with your own treatment and recoveryas you can possibly think of. I think every single little choice youactively make during this time is strengthening and uplifting.

What gets me is that this is the third spring in a row that I won't be
able to work in the garden as I want. When your white count is down,
they don't want you in the soil or fooling with plants, such as roses,
because of the fungi, etc. AND, I am restricted from fresh fruits and
veggies for the same reasons. I will STARVE.



So, I am planning to get my head painted with flowers.

Bonnie -- my thoughts are with you! This is Not Fun, but better than

alternative! Be sure to ask about anti-nausea drugs; they got me thru

during and after. I am feeling great now, have hair back etc etc, but
the
lingering fear I suppose will always be in the background.
Garden-wise not a whole lot to report though enjoyed each small task I
did this past summer. Here in Calif we are all focused on rain amounts,
have had some big storms as you know, They are saying El Nino (= more
rain) is in effect. Here at my place have had average so far after 3
low
years; Sierra snow pack is above average for the first time in several
years. Tho have had a little snow at my altitude, thank goodness we're
not
dealing with the ice and snow and very cold temps that some of you are.

I went through the cancer thing winter of 08. Thanks to all on this

list and many others who send prayers and good vibs my way all iswell.

There was a tumor on the side of my neck and surgery could not
remove it for it sat on the nerves that control the left side of my
face
and
head. So, radiation and chemo both. Began in November and lasted until
mid-February.
Will not go into all the details here, but if you want to call or
email in private would be glad to chat about the experience.
Every experience is different, but no nausea for me...ate everything
but the kitchen table legs. Just weak... very weak toward the last of
treatments and after for about 6 months.
Don't anyone talk you out of your feelings... it is scary.

post-op today and tubes are now out. Yes!!! Shower will be easy.
Thursday afternoon, I meet with the oncologist and discuss and arrange
treatment. From what my surgeon said, it won't be over until around
July. So, I just want to get started and get through it.
