Pam, I have two retrievers in the 80 lb. range. My black lab is oddly
discriminating about what he eats, so he just plays with his prey. But
my Golden, Cider, is a walking garbage can, and normally eats whatever
he can capture. Several years ago, he caught a bunny and ate half of it.
We didn't know, until . . .
The next morning, we found partially digested bunny EVERYWHERE in the house <ewww!>. Now I know what "sick as a dog" really means.
Later, I walked into the back yard and found the remaining "snack",
which I promptly disposed of. Cider didn't mind. From that time to this,
when he catches a rabbit, he doesn't eat it. He brings it to me. <oh,
*thank you,* puppy! this is such a *lovely* present! what a GOOD boy>
Maybe Max already knows about Rabbit Reflux.
D&R,
Wendy

Big as Max is, a bunny would be a mere appetizer.
