My sister just lost her job and I'm not sure how good her chances are for unemployment benefits. It took her about 10 months to find that job after being laid off previous to that - and believe me, she worked hard every day at finding that job. The employer didn't tell her the whole truth and because of that, I fear she may not be eligible. It is devastating to her to have to start all over again, especially now.

Well if you want to be positive you could call the cable company. But everything I read says if you have an analog TV hooked up to cable, you don't have to do anything. I am extrapolating from that to say if you have an analog VCR hooked up to cable, you're still okay. I hope your job situation works out okay, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. This economic mess is hurting an awful lot of folks. Amongst our nieces and nephews there are two layoffs and probably more coming. I had set money aside for a new tv, but with the mortgage mess, there's a good chance I'll be out of a job by May, so I want to hold on to the money. I've applied for a few other county jobs for which I'd be well qualified but I don't even get a call. However, I had the unprecedented opportunity to help out in the auditor's office at the turn of the year and they told me they have an opening. Since I had the chance to show my stuff, I might have a chance there even though I'm not that well qualified. If it works out, maybe I'll get the tv. I have cable andtheysay we don't have to do a thing; the old tvs will be fine without a converter. But I was just wondering...what about my vcr? The cable comes into my vcr which is then connected to the tv. I got it 10 yrs ago, it's analog. Would the vcr work w a digital signal? If not...would it work if the cable went first to the tv and then the tv connected to vcr so it could tapewhat'son the screen rather than the transmission?
