Re: Reel Mowers

Eva,
It's not good for the grass or the mower to mow in the morning. The grass
is wet with dew. You'll dull the blades. I suppose it is possible though
that the new self-sharpening blades might alleviate the problem.

Excerpts from a couple of books on lawns:
"Mow in the evening after 6pm to allow the cut ends enough time to recover
before the dry hot breezes begin." [Cutting a blade of grass produces a
wound that heals best over night, rather than being a freshly cut open wound
which more easily loses its moisture to sun and wind.]

"Whenever possible, choose a time when the grass foliage is dry - mowing wet
turf can produce a ragged effect and clog the machine."

Kitty
