I guess I was fortunate. My oncologist is part of a clinic that runs
pretty much on time. Only time I have had to wait was once when a
patient had a severe reaction to a chemo treatment. Also, I routinely
saw my doctor and he took time, made sure I understood all. Wish you
lived here and I would recommend him.

When I first before I began my appointments with oncologists, 
radiologist, etc. my sister told me to forget I ever heard the word 
schedule. Just go and plan on spending the day at someone else's direction 
and discretion. I do not think any appointment we ever had happened on time 
or lasted as planned. Mostly it was waiting for someone to come into a room 
where we had been placed. 
Anyway.... we do keep our notebook of past history and meds so we 
can answer the same questions over and over. I take index cards with 
questions to ask at my next appointment. 
We try to reward ourselves after appointments with late breakfast or 
lunch before returning home. All of our appointments are 45 minutes to full 
hours' drive each way from home. 
Most of this is a disruption to normal life and although necessary, 
it is resented.

Too true. And from this side, it's a matter of balancing the teaching with 
all the other tasks. Not to mention remembering if I already went over ... 
with you. Some folks don't know what questions to ask & some are offended if 

I give them basic information. Can't tell by looking who's remembering & 
who's too stunned to take anything in. 
Keep getting better. Take something to do with your hands in the waiting 
room. I knit or crochet or take the latest book. I'm guessing you're already 

keeping a note book of what happened when, medically? Write down questions 
as you think of them & pull out the list at the appointments. In general, 
nurses are more geared to teaching than the physicians.
