Re: Orchid question

A few months ago I purchased a Ludisia discolor because of its (unusual for an orchid) attractive foliage. It is a terrestrial orchid, and today, as I was watering it, I noticed something emerging from one of the drainage holes of its pot. Thought it was a root, until I looked more closely - it had minute leaves at the tip! Do terrestrial orchids spread by runners? What do I do now?? I know very little about orchids...any experts out there, or any ideas where I could go with my question?

Many if not all orchids grow via rhizomes, including Ludisia.
I'd unpot it and have a look-see. Likely the thing poking through
the hole can be snipped off and potted by itself, or added
to the mother clump.
