In my experience, Yellow Jackets are more aggressive than most "bees" or
wasps. It doesn't take much to get provoke them and I don't think they lose
their stingers, so they can come back at you time and time again. Having
said that, if there is a nest close by on your property, it's pretty much a
guarantee you'll be stung.

Why are they stinging you? Are you attacking their nest?
Most times, if you leave them alone, they leave you alone. I have tons
of bees, wasps and hornets that live here and only get stung when I
actually grab one of them... Ouch!
