Re: Off to the Garden/mock orange


Merriweather Lewis of Lewis & Clark fame. You know, traveled with Sacajawea
& family : ) Don't ask me why it's called syringa, not a clue. Imagine my
confusion as a neophyte trying to find the botanical name of the local wild
syringa & only finding lilacs. What can I say, the man didn't know anything
about my locale's botany. Nearly starved to death in an area where the
natives were "rich" and well-fed.
