Re: OT - impromptu gas price survey

I used to sell tankerloads of gas for an independent trader. It might surprise some people to know that Swifty doesn't sell Swifty Gas, Murphy may carry any brand, even some of the branded stations may not have to carry their own brand of gas.

I think it's what used to be called "dump gas." The name-brand
distributor doesn't want his trucks coming back to the barn at night
with their tanks half full, so they arrange to sell these small lots
at discount to no-name stations. That also means that no-name gas is
probably a mixture of several dumps from different distributors.

I just bought some in OKC for 3.68.  At a 7-11.  I always wonder
where they
get their gas.  Does anyone know?

In ETN, it has been around 3.88 or 3.89.  There are a couple of
places
where you can get gas a couple of pennies lower with a membership
card.
