I have had Sir Thomas Lipton and Blanc Double
du Courbet.for a few years, and the deer have never bothered them. I also have a yellow one, which is quite small yet. I'll have to keep an eye on it this year. And don't forget deer do not eat the Chestnut rose, either.

Auralie,
I want to plant some rugosas this year, but I have a major deer population. Are those two the only ones they avoid, or do they shun all of the rugosas? Anyone else have experience along that line??

Does it by any chance resist deer? That's the reason I have stopped growing roses, except for a couple of rugosas that they don't bother - Grootendorst Supreme and Blanc Double du Courbet. (Except for resisting JBs...they haven't reached my garden yet, so don't know!) It is truly a trouble free rose. Minimal blackspot, no mildew, continual bloom. Mine have not gotten bigger than 3.5 - 4 ft. I'm looking for the new double Knockout.
