Wow, Bonnie! I'd never heard of it Neviusia alabamensis, Alabama Snow Wreath before, and figured it wouldn't be hardy here. But MOBOT shows it hardy to zone 5. Very pretty. Chris has a gorgeous pic of it in his gallery. I looked around and can't seem to find it offered anywhere, not even my woody wholesalers. Speaking of Forsythia, mine is blooming today. What an amazing day! I cleaned all my beds, pulled a bit more ivy and swept up a huge bagful of maple crap which fell overnight. Maple seedlings are popping up too.

I also have fothergilla and love it...it is spreading. Also, tried Neviusia alabanemis (Snow wreath) which put out wonderful blooms this year...it grows like the twig dogwoods and forsythia...in beautiful arches with delicate blooms. Would you like me to pot up a cutting? If it (fothergilla) takes off, I could send it to you in the fall for planting. Mine has performed beautifully since I planted it. The cultivar is "Mount Airy." However, thesame kind has never done well in the park a block from my house. I think the reason is mine is against a fence on the west side of my house andgetsfull sun while the ones in the park are in too much shade. zem----- Original Message ----- From: "Kitty" <kmrsy@comcast.net>To: <gardenchat@hort.net> Sent: Wednesday, March 28, 2007 8:35 PM Subject: Re: [CHAT] In the garden > Zem, I've had a C.floridus. for a few years and I like it very much.
