I've loved every arboretum I've visited. Sounds like you had fun. I've apparently adjusted to the time change, waking before my alarm again. Hope to play in the yard a bit. We were in Chicago over the weekend.
Left southern Indiana with one time and arrived at Morton Arboretum at another time... set our watch back one hour. Ok.... that was Thursday afternoon. Saturday evening we find we have a time change. Coming home we had to change our watches to loose two hours. That was a bit of an adjustment..... If I remember correctly when I was up in far northern Indiana on occasion, we had one time here, another up there and then another time 30 mile drive to the west toward Chicago. Then you had those who recognized fast time and those who did not. Plants: was at Morton Arboretum... if you are ever in that neck of the woods do go visit. A 4 acre children's garden..... a view from the dinning room over a lake..... on and on.

Oh wow, you lived in one time zone and worked in another? That would be
really bizarre. You'd have to have one of those watches with the dual
time zones or something.
Our animals make sure we are up early too but I always figured it was a
learned behavior. We get up at 5 for work and so do they, but they don't
know weekends, so at 5 the cats are wandering around the bed, the dogs
are begging to go out, and by 6 the sheep are bellowing to be fed. At
least the horses are quiet although you can see their heads craned
towards the house waiting for us.
I always thought when we retired we could gradually retrain everyone to
get up later.

Yeah, I know, but Squinty won't let me stay in bed any later. One of
the contributing factors to my puzzlement is the fact that I live
pretty much on the western edge of the eastern time zone. The western
part of the state--mostly the panhandle--is in the central time zone.
When I was stationed in Apalatchicola during the Forgotten War, I lived
in central time and worked [20 miles away] in eastern time. I don't
think I've ever recovered from that.

All day--since about 4:30 this AM--I've been holding my breath,

for a consensus to develop about this earlier-than-usual DST. But

doesn't seem to be one. When I got up, I turned on the lights, the
computer, the TV, and [of course] the heater. The sun finally came up
at 7:30 so I could dowse some of the lights by 8:30 when it was

finally

daylight and the skylight began to dispel some of the gloom. So, in
all, I used some pretty intense electricity for 4 hours this morning.

I

think those Santa Barbara researchers are probably right. DSL is

likely

a loser.
