Spring here.... the vultures are back (I understand they do not eat frozen carcasses, so their return indicates spring.). Because we have not had much in the way of frozen ground this winter, I expect the Japanese beetles to be out in force this year.

Yesterday I passed an alligator snapper that had just crossed the road -- a month ahead of schedule. I had planned to limb up my huge Burfordholly, but by the time I got home it was blooming and covered with honeybees. I feel like I'm in a time lapse world. I have the windows open, and it's raining with dome thunderstorms in the area. The cats (and I) are happy I have the day off. zem Zone 7 West TN Sent from my iPhoneOn Mar 15, 2012, at 9:28 AM, Patricia Dickson <pdickson53@gmail.com> wrote:I keep thinking about how many times I have seen all the fruit trees infull bloom and then we got a freeze that destroyed all chances of any fruit. Everything here looks like spring in full swing. My daffodils andforsythia look so beautiful! I need to work in my vegatable garden but keep thinking it might get cold again. I guess I need to give in to thecurrent temps and just get out there. Thought I heard one yesterday, but couldn't spot it, so told myself it was just wishful thinking. I planted some peas last week on specs. Think I'll put in lettuce and mustard today. But I can't help remembering heavy snowfalls in April a few years ago.
