Re: Bummer weekend... sorta

Cathy,
I just bought a 19lb turkey with the same thought. I love turkey and buy it all the time for sandwiches. To me leftovers are better the next day than on Thanksgiving.

I ran across a recipe for green beans with hot pepper relish in the
St Louis paper today. Probably will not do it this Thanksgiving, as I
want to try it on myself first, before offering it to guests. Brought
home a 13 lb turkey from a local farmer. Way more than I need, even
with my niece and her husband coming, but plan on putting the
leftover meet in packets, freezing it and grabbing one whenever I
have the urge for turkey pot pie.

Donna,

It seems to me there are a lot of babies being born right now!
It was a gorgeous day here today. High 60's and no wind. I didn't
get to spend any real time outside. I am already working on the
prep for Thanksgiving. I started toasting the bread and baking
cornbread for the dressing. I even finished up a double mixture of
my family cheese roll. I love it.
It is sharp cheese with cream cheese, toasted pecans, garlic powder
then rolled in chili powder. I love to just chill it and then
slice it.
I will be in charge of making the turkey, dressing, cranberry
salad, broccoli and rice casserole.
What kind of sides does anyone else make to go with turkey day. I
love sweet potatoes but no one in my husband's family does.

Congrats! So is this your first granddaughter? grandkid? Why
didn't you go
too... (ok, never mind that last question!) Hope all goes easily
and she
arrives healthy :)

Know of two males born recently, Isaac on 10/17 and Dylan
on 11/17 hum...... we were wondering where the girls where!

So how long ago
did you plant those pepper seeds, seems like only a week or two
ago? You own
sauerkraut- hum, got a recipe?

Chilly--yesterday and today. Put Ms Fatma on a
Tundra Airways flight
this AM so she can witness DIL give birth to a
granddaughter later this
week. Cats already looking for her. Got an eye
doctor appointment
[routine] early in the AM.

On the cheery side, the
Bishop's Crown peppers are up, so I'll
transplant them into a big pot on the
front patio tomorrow. And the
sauerkraut appears to be done and ready to can,
maybe tomorrow. I need
to give it a taste test first because the canning heat
will stop the
fermentation. But it would be nice to have some as a side on
T-Day.
