I love ambrosia, too. My aunt used to make it when I was a child. I've never even tried it on my family because they would react just like yours. I tried Waldorf salad on them for years before I finally gave up.

Wild rice with water chestnuts sounds great to me - I would have eaten more than my share. I used to make mammoth Thanksgiving dinners, but ate very little of it. The one thing I do miss is the old Southern standard ambrosia - oranges, pineapple and coconut. And most of the people who came to my dinners wouldn't eat it. Go figure. I love loons, too, but seldom see more than one or two at a time. Where we stay in Chincoteague has a balcony over the interstate waterway canal and Chincoteague Bay. Many mornings there are a couple of loons cruising the canal when we get up. But nothing comes close to the absolute mass of snow geese. Just amazing! Ihave watched all those on TV at one time or another.. especially nice now that we have HD, but nothing like the real live being there I am sure. I have a thing about the Loons.... those fascinate me no end. Coloration, eyes, their calls.... To me there are like a train whistle in the night... their call is so forlorn. Dinner sounds nice as well... I could go for Crab over turkey. Everyonehere has to go for the traditional or some version thereof..... I fixed wild rice with water chestnuts this year to take to the dinner and only one otherperson ate any. Wasn't stuffing. Glad you had a great trip. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE GARDENCHAT
