Pearl Acacia (podalyrifolia).

Amazingly, I found that at Annie’s Annuals, among other places. Logees. But these sound small. I wonder if it’s a fast grower or where you might find a local supplier of a larger specimen.   San Marcos wholesale carries it and you could use their retail locator to find one.

There seems to be a more upright verbal of chilopsis that is interesting.  And I do like the Chitalpa alot, possibly more.   And I forgot about acacias.  One of the varieties in the UC Davis arboretum I really like called Pearl Acacia (podalyrifolia).   wonder where i could find one of those to buy.....

Desert willow are very nice. Look at both chilopsis and chitalpa. They are deciduous though. I wouldn’t recommend palo verde for you. Let’s see...

Take a look at the acacias, maybe acacia salicina. I like acacia farnesiana but there are thorns. Texas ebony is evergreen small tree but thorny.

In CA I used to have a silk tree (albizzia?) that did fine in my xeriscape area. But messy, and late to leaf out.

Hi Theresa. No suggestions. But I was unfamiliar with Desert Willow, so I googled it. And wow! Palo verde: meh.

HI Theresa -- I actually have 3 pistache and chose them for the fall color and really like them.  . (I'm in Grass Valley). I water them a little during the summer, lots here along streets that don't get any.  Of course they do lose their leaves, starting soon now.  Good luck!

Hi all!  Looking for idea to replace the ash tree in my front yard (it’s roots are threatening my foundation).  The arborist I had come out was completely useless- he just said to plant a Chinese pistache with no other ideas.   The tree would get full south and west sun exposure.    I was looking at Desert Willow and also Palo Verde trees as possibilities. Hoping some other ideas can be shared.   Thx
