Marathon Lilies are so beautiful. I had many in the garden we left. My garden was on the International Lily Society tour in 2013. We had deer every day but I had more trouble with rabbits chewing on the lilies.

We have had deer on Long Island the past few years. I use Milorganite and frequent spraying with Liquid Fence to keep the deer at bay. It’s s constant struggle, but for the most part, the deer have left my hosta, daylilies and lilium alone. I also spray other favorite perennials and shrubs. 

With the wet spring and summer, it’s been hard to keep up with the weeding. Since August I’ve gotten a helper a few hours a week. Not having to work has given me more time to get things in shape, but I have a lot more to do. 

What shrubs did you buy Gene?
