Yep. Macy is already on a special diet bc of her crystal issues.  So we shall see. Vet opens at 7. So just waiting for that

Theresa, I’ve been through the FUS ordeal a few times early on. But not In recent years.  Back then we didn’t have the variety of cat foods and the readily available ones had higher levels of something I can’t recall at the moment. This is what brought it on.  Better foods generally have lower levels. I’m sure your husband can diagnose it in a minute. My vet mentioned that it can happen with grey cats at 3 yrs of age but, of course other cats, too. First my Orangecat got it and years later, right on schedule my gray cat, Jack, on his 3rd birthday.

On the cat subject, I came home from work today to find my cat acting weird. Walking funny, in and out of the litter box, meowing, etc. At first I thought anal glands, but now I’m betting she has crystals in her urine.   So of course this kind of thing never happens when my husband  (the vet) is here, so I will be calling the local vet to take her in tmrw.  It is always a giant ordeal bc she gets car sick within minutes, even tho the vet is only 3 miles away.   Not looking forward to this.  : (

It’s really wonderful hearing from all of you. I have too many cats and not nearly enough money to properly care for them, but we are managing so far.

Wow...a bear in your breezeway!!!  That's a bit of excitement.  Glad to hear you are finding ways to stay as active as you can after your hip fracture.

I'm still here, and have been enjoying so much hearing from the bunch of

you again.  I've really missed you.

I started to respond the other day, but something went wrong with the computer,

so didn't follow up.

I'm afraid I don't have much positive to contribute to the gardening topics - since

I fell and broke my hip about a year ago I have not been able to get down to my

garden, and things are a real mess.  I am really itching to get out and do some

fall clean-up and bulb-planting, but just can't do it.  Chet can barely walk these

days, so we need help for almost everything.

I did mean to contribute to the bulb-planting topics that I have devised a plan to

allow me to grow some tulips - I had given them up since they are just deer-candy.

I find that if I plant the smaller species tulips inside a circle of daffodil bulbs, I have

pretty good luck.  The daffs protect them, as the deer don't eat those, and the species

tulips will come back year after year.  I won't plant any this fall, but I will offer to get

a lot for our church, as I do most years.  I did have pretty good luck with the Caladiums

I bought, as usual, from a Florida wholesaler, for the church, my garden club, and just

to give to friends and put in pots on my doorstep and in the breezeway between the

house and the garage.  Unfortunately, rabbits have found a lot of them.

Speaking of breezeways, a handyman is working in ours right now, repairing the

damage done by the big black bear that I found there a couple of weeks ago.  He

had pulled down the bracket from which I hang bird-feeders and pots of tomatoes.

I was on my way out to fill the bird-feeders when I found him.  Then he came and

looked through the screen door at me.  I didn't go out.  Since the feeders were

about empty, maybe he will think it's not worth coming back.

Once again, it's great to hear from you all again.  I hope it lasts this time.

Fondly, Auralie

I think it came down to which combination of features and price were best for my situation. The platinum provides a large reservoir mounted on the back which was important. Stainless steel was probably too high priced. The unit has to be placed against a wall, so 360° was of no use to me. Amazon has filters for it for a very reasonable price.

I see that Chewy (my favorite place to order pet supplies) has several Drinkwell fountains, including a stainless steel one.

Did the platinum have features that steered you that way instead of the original or 360?
