I would love to see your pictures of Ohme Gardens. Just send them to me directly, since Chris's servers filter them out on gardenchat. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Patricia" <pdickson@sbcglobal.net>

They still allow you to walk all around with a map that marks some very narrow, steep areas marked in red on the map. They have some metal guard rails on some of the walk ways. It is unbelievable to walk around on much less thinking of moving all those rocks around and planting the steep areas. I took a bunch of pictures that I can share some with you if you would like.Tricia----- Original Message ----- From: "Judy Browning" <judylee@lewiston.com>To: <gardenchat@hort.net> Sent: Friday, September 18, 2009 12:39 PM Subject: Re: [CHAT] Washington Vacation!!!I saw it back in the early 70s, so I think it was. At that time you could hike down the cliff paths if you were brave enough. So many beautiful little nooks and crannies. I don't have any pictures and you know how memory is. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Patricia Dickson" <pdickson@sbcglobal.net>To: <gardenchat@hort.net> Sent: Friday, September 18, 2009 7:00 AM Subject: Re: [CHAT] Washington Vacation!!!I thought Ohme was unbelievable! How in the world did those 2 people move all those rock, build all those stairs, dig all the ponds with a mule and a dragbucket???My brother who is not a gardener was overly impressed with Butchart and I tried to explain to him that every garden is great in some way. He wasn't impressed with Van Duesen, it was a little messier but such a great learninggarden. Of course I am an over the top crazy gardener.... so I love to see any garden.or garden tour. I don't think my pictures can ever tell anyone how wonderful Ohme is. Italked to a local and they asked me what I thought of Ohme. They told me that they wished I could have seen it when the family was still in charge and that since the state has taken over it is not kept as neat or well. When you sawit was it still in the family's control? --- On Fri, 9/18/09, Judy Browning <judylee@lewiston.com> wrote: From: Judy Browning <judylee@lewiston.com> Subject: Re: [CHAT] Washington Vacation!!! To: gardenchat@hort.net Date: Friday, September 18, 2009, 8:35 AM So glad you had a wonderful time. Those roadside fruit stands are dreat, aren't they. Adds a little time to the trip but so worth it. I wish we could have connected when you were in Spokane. Maybe next time. What did you think of Ohme Gardens? I saw it before I saw Butchart & in my memory it seemed justas impressive. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Patricia" <pdickson@sbcglobal.net> To: <gardenchat@hort.net> Sent: Thursday, September 17, 2009 7:41 AM Subject: [CHAT] Washington Vacation!!!gardens, Van Duesen in Vancouver, Ohme gardens in Wenatchee, Wa. They were all beautiful in very different ways. My brother and husband thought Butchart was the best ever and I agree but every garden has something beautiful about it. We had the best apples, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and theJudy thank you for all your suggestions! We had a wonderful time in Washington. We were able to see Butchartbest EVER nectarine at road side stands all the way from Spokane to Port Angeles and then back across the North Cascade Mountains. We spent 2 days up in Canada at Whistler, BC. We rode the peak to peakgondola, with amazing views. It was a great vacation!Seattle area? If you are driving anywhere near Wenatchee, stop by the Omee gardens. I saw an article this summer that they are refurbishing and restoring this garden. When I saw it in the 70's it easily rivaled Butchart Gardens. It's located on a bluff overlooking Wenatchee and was pretty spectacular. If you want to drive over a mountain pass White Pass and Chinook Pass are bothThank you again, Tricia----- Original Message ----- From: "Judy Browning" <judylee@lewiston.com>To: <gardenchat@hort.net> Sent: Sunday, August 30, 2009 6:52 PM Subject: Re: [CHAT] summer?Wow, Spokane is on the other side of the state. How are you getting to thepretty. Narrow curvy mountain highways, grand scenery & white knuckledropoffs. Snowqualamie is a freeway, but needs common sense. Even though it's a nice wide road, you need to watch those curves, especially on the downhill side. If Vantage is on your route, the petrified forest is interesting if you are into rocks. There's a nice park next to the Columbia River. Just buy your picnic stuff before you get there, everything costs way more than it's worth. Are you spending any time in Spokane? I'm only 2 hours south & would loveto meet you for lunch if you have time & it's a day I don't work.Judy B z6 Idaho ----- Original Message ----- From: "Patricia Dickson"<pdickson@sbcglobal.net>To: <gardenchat@hort.net> Cc: <gardenchat@hort.net> Sent: Saturday, August 29, 2009 5:16 PM Subject: Re: [CHAT] summer?Or here we had one of the most years with over 100degree days. After the coolest July on record, we finally had a few warmish days, but mostly overcast and humid. Then early this week a couple of days up in the 80s. 90 degrees was predicted but never happened here. Now we are back into what looks like real fall weather. It hasn't been above 72 since Thursday - wasn't out of the 60s yesterday and doesn't look like it will be today. It's drizzling rain, but less than an inch has fallen - just dismal and depressing. Add to that, the dogwood trees are definitely turning color, and the flock of goldfinches that cluster around our feeder are losing their bright yellow color. We get so much pleasure from the goldfinches. There have been more of them than usual this summer. Sometimes there are as manyas eight lined up or fussing with each other for a turn at the feeder. I know they will still be here all winter, but I hate to see them losetheir brilliant summer plumage.
