Good for you, Gene. I love Bergenia, but unfortunately it's just too hot and humid for it to survive here. I'd just love a few days of slow rain. Everything here is sooo dry.

I know everyone, including myself, has been complaining about the hot weather, broken records for sustained days of high temps, etc. Could not stand it anymore. It will turn to cooler nights in the next 2 to 3 weeks, so I am taking the mornings to go out and play in thegarden now. Reworking one small area by pulling out old plants, turning andworking in "good stuff" and then transplanting, mulching, watering in. Infront of arum italicum there is a large rock that now has hellebore foetiduson either side. In front close to path are Bergenia that turns red in cool weather and Gold Most glossy fern. Path is lined with limestone. Arum willcome up shortly and all will be green through the winter. Have several otherareas I want to play with if I can find the time and exact plants to combine. I am even going to order a few new plants (gasp!!). Gene E.
