As far as I know (which isnât much) most homes are rented unfurnished, but
there are quite a few furniture rental places in the area. In any case, youâve
now got the names of several golf communities so perhaps you can narrow down
your rental hunt some. Thereâs an outfit thatâs been advertising pretty heavily
recently. Itâs called Renterâs Warehouse and they specialize in finding and
vetting tenants for homeowners who want to rent out their homes. It might be
worth giving them a call. (404)
662-2322 I donât know anything about them, though. One of my friends at
church had her house burn down a couple of years ago. I will ask her who found
them their rental.
There are also some golf communities in Roswell, which is just south of
Alpharetta. Brookfield is one such, an older community, relatively flat yards,
many with trees. One advantage to living in Roswell or parts of Alpharetta
is that thereâs easy transportation to the airport by shuttle bus. Thereâs one
that stops at the Holiday Inn on Holcomb Bridge Road â or did â thatâs
relatively inexpensive. I know that several companies now offer residential
pickup in Alpharetta and Roswell, but theyâre about 130 round trip. Driving to
the airport every week can be a real bear. Been there, done that. Weâre out of
the service area where we are.
Roswell is a historic community. It was founded in the early 1800âs.
Sherman messed it up quite a bit, but it rebounded well. The Presbyterian church
in town still bears the scars of his men who, while they didnât burn down the
church (used it for a hospital), removed a cupboard door and painted a
checkerboard on it!
My parents lived in Roswell from 1975 until Dad moved to be nearer my
sister in 2011. Itâs a nice town and the older sections are generally quiet.
Alpharetta also has some older, quieter sections but much of it is raw and new.
When we moved here in 1981, the main exit off of GA 400 here had just been paved
the year before. The worst traffic jam was one of Andersonâs steers getting out
of its pasture. Now the road is 4 and 6 laned and traffic noise is constant.
They are even 4 laning the quiet road a block away from us. Itâs sick-making.

Subject: Re: [CHAT] moving again questions Daryl, Thank you for such great information! I am not sure we will buy a
house right now. Don's job is a new position and lots of traveling. We
both think we need to live temporarily until we know more about his job.
He is wishing he could retire and he wanted to move to Colorado, our son wants
to be transferred back to Colorado, I just wasn't excited about being in a new
area, city, and state so far from my kids and him traveling all over the
country. I have been looking at VRBO's or furnished homes that we can live
in and decide where we want to stay. When we moved to Rockport 2+ yrs
ago, I sold or gave away most of our furniture. I thought it would
be great to travel lighter. I bought a few things and when we left Houston
I gave away all but my sewing machine/cabinet, cedar chest and our bed. It
still took the biggest pull type U haul to move our 'stuff' to our barn in
Oklahoma. We have been living out of hotels since August 15th and for the
year before that an apartment (my first apartment ever) in Houston. It
would be wonderful to find a place with at least a patio, grill and room to grow
a few things. We thought when we let go of all of our furniture we could
go 'full time RV' if we decided to do that.
I think my 60th birthday has been more tumultuous than any other birthday!
I grew up in a small town and miss being in a smaller community. I want to hear
birds and nature not cars, horns and traffic. I have never lived near my
grandchildren and one is already in college, one a senior and the last one a
sophomore.
Thank you again!!!!
Patricia
