GRANDIFLORA MAGAZINE CELEBRATES ONE-YEAR
ANNIVERSARY WITH FREE ADMISSION PASSES TO CHANTICLEER GARDEN
Grandiflora MidAtlantic Gardening magazine, the only gardening publication
dedicated to the unique growing conditions of the MidAtlantic region, will
celebrate its one-year anniversary in April 2002. To mark this milestone
current and new subscribers to the magazine will receive free admission
passes to Chanticleer Garden in Wayne, Pa. Chanticleer, a 31-acre pleasure
garden near Philadelphia, is a horticultural inspiration that has become a
must-see destination in the rarefied world of Brandywine Valley gardening
(www.chanticleergarden.org).
Described by the Loudoun Times Mirror as "...a gardener's delight,"
Grandiflora MidAtlantic Gardening magazine is a dream come true for garden
enthusiasts of all stripes in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, DC,
Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina and West Virginia. Rather than picking
through national publications for relevant information, Grandiflora readers
enjoy articles written by regional writers who know the challenges of the
mid-Atlantic's heat, humidity and soil conditions. Covering topics such as
container gardening, compost tea making, phenological calendars, pathways,
garden travel and excerpts from newly published books, each issue of
Grandiflora is a reference tool that will be used again and again in the
years to come.
In April 2002 Grandiflora examines the challenges of gardening in deer
country, sharing the experiences of MidAtlantic gardeners who have learned
firsthand which plants attract deer and those that are likely to be spared,
as well as the successes and failures of various defensive strategies. Also
included is information about the newly published book Allergy Free Gardening
by Tom Ogren and a book review by Diana Pederson on Deerproofing Your Yard
and Garden.
The annual subscription rate is $24.95 for six issues. Back issues are
available for the newsstand price of $7. For more information, visit
www.grandiflora.org or call 540-722-9715.
Dear GWL readers and writers:
We are getting off the ground because wonderful generous contributors have
decided they want to be a part of this new effort -- many of you know how
young magazines struggle to get going. I was disappointed to see Tropical go
into bankruptcy. Our contributors are not yet paid except in copies of the
magazine. Can't afford so-called media play, but copies are being sold at
Dumbarton Oaks, Green Springs Garden Park, Brookside Gardens, and other areas
where gardeners congregate. If you would like to see the magazine, please
let me know. We think we have something good going here.
