Someone was asking about the Year of the Rose. This is what I found:

The American Rose Society has named 2002 the Year of the Rose. This
worldwide, 
year-long, grassroots event is designed to promote the rose as a

symbol of love, friendship, beauty, and peace. America's National Floral
