Hi, Everyone!

I Google myself too, as I suspect most writers do now. And I too often find websites and so on that are using articles of mine without my permission. But I like to see this because in my case it is just that much more free PR. I can't afford to advertise so free PR is the ticket.

You'll often find it useful to google a line or key phrase in your articles. Often when the article is "borrowed", your byline is not put on the article so your name will not be found in a search. Googling the phrase or opening line will bring up specific articles.

One potential solution to this is to insert a link to your personal website in the middle of any article posted to the web . Often those who lift articles will leave the link if it is part of the article. Then you can google for links to your website and find articles in this manner.

I'm delighted that Doreen's corporation sent a cheque. In most instances I'm familiar with, the offending site simply ignores the request. In this case, you run a whois to find the hosting isp and send them a letter indicating that they will be included in the legal procedings because they are supporting copyright infringement on the part of whatever.com website. This will usually result in reasonably fast action as the isp has nothing to gain from being included in legal procedings.
