Re: Cedar & Cocoa Bean Mulches


Here is a bit about my experience with cocoa mulch. I was given a sample to
try. I top-dressed a container garden and found that it held water and got
moldy very quickly, a bad thing around the base of plants and not something
to encourage in a humid climate, the other issue is the same, as an earlier
reply; the dogs love it and it can be pretty toxic in dose. I tried a small
amount in a shrub border and found my dog licking the soil where it was, as
he was trying to get the last of the flavor. He had already ingested the
mulch... He was fine...glad it was just a sample...

Dogs, like people, are drawn to chocolate aromas.  Chocolate kills dogs, and
they can't read "Keep off the mulch".  I love dogs, so I advise readers
