Re: Is an RSS the way to go?
Andrew - I'm quite late getting to this party but here's my .02. RSS (as
you know) is an automatic way to send your content out. You can read that
on many different readers or systems other than Google Reader.
For example, I use them for my iPad on Flipboard.- but only selected ones
I have tentatively moved everything from Google Reader to Feedly on both my
iPad and iPhone.
I have always used Vienna as a reader on my desktop.
Browsers can be set to be readers as well - I just don't want to clutter up
my browser with them - and I tend to read everything now on my iPad anyway.
As a publisher, I have also just moved all my email feeds away from
Feedburner to AWeber. I don't think Feedburner was being maintained and I
was having problems with it vomiting out huge swaths of old articles every
now and then - but because it's owned by Google, it's impossible to get
support anymore. I made the assumption that having killed G-reader that
the distribution of feeds would be coming along as well. (but I've been
wrong before) :-)
Most consumers don't use an RSS feed anyway even though it's a staple of
the chattering-classes. Consumers prefer email by a wide margin.
But those readers are what I use/recommend. Hope that's helpful.
